The 21st century CJ has carved its own legacy at drag strips across the country, becoming the winningest late model in NHRA with national event wins in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and numerous class records this season alone.

On Friday Dec. 2, Ford Racing unveiled the 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang at the Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, Fla.

With more than three seasons of testing, racing and customer feedback, the 2013 Cobra Jet marks the continued evolution of the factory-produced turnkey race car. Designed for NHRA Stock and Super Stock competition, the 2013 model is better than ever and features the latest drag racing technology for greater speed and consistency.

“The 2008 Cobra Jet is a great car. It does everything we wanted it to do,” said George Goddu, business manager, Ford Racing Performance Group. “We’re really proud of that car, but we improve with each new Cobra Jet offering and 2013 is no exception.”

The 2013 Cobra Jet offers two 5.0-liter Ti-VCT engine options. Customers may choose a naturally aspirated engine with Cobra Jet induction system, CNC ported heads, high-lift cams and low-drag accessory drive, or a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharged version with CNC port-matched manifold and heads, and a proprietary 10-rib supercharger drive system for high-rpm use without belt slip.

“The 5.0-liter has all the attributes to make a world-class drag racing engine and is ideal for the Cobra Jet,” said Goddu. “Both the naturally aspirated and supercharged engines will be competitive as delivered.”

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 20, 2011 – In a step to further enhance the SYNC® experience, Ford is adding Operator Assist, a new free service that allows users to connect with a live person, as a standard feature of SYNC Services.

Previously in beta test trial phase, the service is now available as part of SYNC Services and joins the growing list of cloud-based driver assistance features offered by Ford Motor Company.

“This isn’t just about offering customers a back-up option to the services we have already. This is about giving customers a variety of choices when it comes to how they would like to receive information,” said Doug VanDagens, director, Ford Connected Services Solutions Organization.

How it works
Cloud-based, on-demand, voice-activated SYNC Services provides access to information about traffic, news, sports, weather, horoscopes, stock quotes and movie listings along with business searches and turn-by-turn directions. Seventy percent of all SYNC Services calls are for business searches and from those seeking turn-by-turn directions, said David Gersabeck, product manager, SYNC Services.

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 15, 2011 – Ford is putting design in the hands of enthusiasts with a new customizer website that features the 2012 Mustang.

Ford launched the site at www.ford.com/cars/mustang to let Mustang enthusiasts take advantage of the classic design with limitless possibilities.

“This site lets Mustang fans customize cars to their heart’s content,” said Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist. “It’s a simple-to-use layout that lets users take the base design of Mustang and run with it.”

Users can choose to customize a Mustang V6, GT, Boss 302 or Shelby GT500. Their custom touch is blended with three different backgrounds – a dragway, cityscape or drive-in restaurant – along with five different angles from which to check out the design.

Accessories include body kits, wheels, decals, grilles and decklids, along with parts from Ford Racing Performance Parts and Ford Vehicle Personalization. Within minutes, several different looks can easily be created and saved as desktop wallpaper.

DEARBORN, Mich., May 26, 2011 – The Ford Motor Company Fund is donating another $50,000 to assist with hunger relief efforts in communities hit by tornadoes, bringing the total donations to Feeding America this month to $100,000.

Additionally, employees at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant, including employees with UAW Local 249, and local Ford offices are assisting with relief efforts in Joplin, Mo. An employee gate collection is expected to raise several thousand dollars in further contributions.

“Our hearts go out to our neighbors without shelter and food in the wake of these devastating storms,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund. “Our partnership with Feeding America allows us to provide help where it is needed most.”

Feeding America aids disaster relief and recovery by distributing food and grocery products through a network of more than 200 food banks that serve 61,000 local charitable agencies.

”The donations from Ford this season will greatly benefit those working to rebuild communities affected by the damaging storms,” said Vicki Escarra, chief executive officer of Feeding America. “For years, our partnership with Ford has helped to better communities across the nation.”

Ford Motor Company has a decade-long partnership with Feeding America and Newman’s Own®, Inc. to provide Ford refrigerated trucks loaded with Newman’s Own food products to communities in need. The fleet of 98 refrigerated Ford trucks and vans has travelled 5.7 million miles delivering 130 million meals.

Dearborn, Mich., March 23, 2011 – The small car style Ford Fiesta delivers is expanding for 2012 with three new packages to give customers even more options for personalizing.

The new packages build on the success of the current personalization choices Fiesta customers enjoy today, with nearly 40 percent purchasing at least one accessory. To date, more than 26,000 Ford Custom Accessories items have been purchased by Fiesta owners.

“The Fiesta customer loves accessories and personalization. These packages extend the desire the customer has to make the car more tailored to his or her own personal tastes,” said Lew Echlin, Global Car marketing manager. “Personalization has been key since the Fiesta launched, and with the new packages we’re featuring the latest design trends so customers can do even more with their car.”

A recent study by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) found that accessories drive sales, with the availability of accessories influencing more than 1 million new vehicle sales each year.

“The appeal of accessories reflects on other trends in society, including the desire to personalize phones, computers and clothing,” said Sheryl Connelly, manager of Ford Global Trends and Futuring. “People don’t customize to stand out from the crowd; they do it to create a more meaningful connection.”

The new premium sport appearance package takes cues from the European Focus RS with several blacked-out components that feature Tuxedo Black paint, including:

• Side mirrors
• Headlamps
• Grille surround
• License plate header
• Upper rear hatch spoiler

DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 27, 2011 – Ford is expanding the reach of Ford SYNC globally with the European launch of its popular voice-controlled connectivity system, with the capability of now offering 19 languages.

SYNC was originally launched in North America in 2007 with three languages. With the additional 16 vernaculars, Ford will offer voice recognition capability, powered by Nuance Communications, in more languages than any other automaker offering voice control.

The expansion brings the convenience of SYNC to a much larger audience of potential customers, said Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally, who kicked off the global launch of SYNC this week at the 2011 CeBIT technology show in Hanover, Germany.

“We are pleased to announce that SYNC will soon be available to customers around the world,” Mulally said. “It is a smart and simple way to connect drivers with in-car technologies and their digital lives.”

DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 21, 2011 – The Ford Fiesta is now the first car in its segment to earn top crash test ratings in each of the world’s largest auto markets that perform safety testing, the U.S., China and Europe.

“Ford is committed to safety, including our efforts to deliver top crash test ratings that customers look to when choosing new vehicles,” said Sue Cischke, group vice president of Sustainability, Environment and Safety. “Fiesta is the latest example of that safety commitment, and shows that a small, fuel-efficient car can deliver top safety.”

Testing agencies in the U.S., China, Europe and Australia/New Zealand rate the Ford Fiesta at the top of the list for crash ratings. Fiesta’s latest maximum five-star safety rating was awarded by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center under the China New Car Assessment Program, or C-NCAP. This follows maximum five-star ratings in Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta, the only car in its segment to earn a Top Safety Pick from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety under its new test standards, continues to earn recognition in major global markets for its safety performance and rating in independent third-party testing.

CHICAGO, Feb. 9, 2011 – The Ford Explorer ride experience at the Chicago Auto Show takes the simple concept of a playground teeter-totter and transforms it into an exciting and compelling demonstration of Explorer’s exclusive Terrain Management System™.

The footprint of the teeter-totter ride experience at the Chicago Auto Show is approximately 5,000 square feet. Operated by a professional driver, with show-goers as passengers, the Explorer starts out driving through sand to demonstrate how it easily handles loose surfaces before beginning to ascend the teeter-totter ramp.

The teeter-totter itself, taking two full weeks to construct within the Ford exhibit, is a steel structure 30 feet long and standing four feet tall. DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 2, 2010 – What looks like a harmless speck of sand to one person can be a big nuisance for a new car owner.  That is why engineers at Ford Motor Company are working with the same computed tomography (CT) scanners that police and hospitals use to improve vehicle quality.

Much like crime solvers on television, Ford has its own team of “forensic” investigators employing cutting-edge scientific methods to improve the quality of parts such as gears, latches, welds, nuts, bolts, fasteners and sensors before they are assembled into a finished car.

Analysts like Ford’s Vlad Beltran in the past would spend hours, days — and even weeks — sanding an individual part, such as a bolt, one layer at a time until a small scratch or bump was discovered.  Now, Beltram uses 3D virtual imaging to target a flaw inside, such as an air pocket or scratch, that may be no bigger than a dust particle.

Beltran’s work keeps Ford quality high by uncovering the air pockets, indentations, and blemishes that mean the difference between acceptable and optimal performance.

The critical tool is a Skyscan Micro-CT scanner that fits on a table-top.

Driving dynamics and responsive handling have been elevated across the entire all-new Focus range for 2012. Bangkok, Thailand – October 4, 2010 - Led by exceptional demand for the all-new Ford Fiesta, Ford Thailand announced overall September sales that more than doubled from the same month a year ago, rising an impressive 114 percent to 1,520 units. The September sales total marked Ford Thailand’s best monthly performance since December 2007.

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 1, 2010 – Consumer demand for Ford’s fresh lineup of high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles in September helped the company continue to grow both sales and retail market share.

Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales in September totaled 160,873, up 46 percent versus a year ago. Ford’s market share also increased in September, marking the 23rd time in the last 24 months that Ford’s share of the retail market increased.

Year-to-date sales totaled 1.44 million, up 21 percent – growth more than double the overall industry rate. Ford is on track to gain market share for the second year in a row – a result not achieved since 1993.

Paris, Sept. 30, 2010 – Less than two years after its global rollout began in Europe, the Ford Fiesta is exceeding expectations – attracting a new breed of younger and more affluent customers to the Ford brand – and stands as the strongest proof yet that the One Ford plan is working.
