DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 15, 2011 – Ford is putting design in the hands of enthusiasts with a new customizer website that features the 2012 Mustang.

Ford launched the site at www.ford.com/cars/mustang to let Mustang enthusiasts take advantage of the classic design with limitless possibilities.

“This site lets Mustang fans customize cars to their heart’s content,” said Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist. “It’s a simple-to-use layout that lets users take the base design of Mustang and run with it.”

Users can choose to customize a Mustang V6, GT, Boss 302 or Shelby GT500. Their custom touch is blended with three different backgrounds – a dragway, cityscape or drive-in restaurant – along with five different angles from which to check out the design.

Accessories include body kits, wheels, decals, grilles and decklids, along with parts from Ford Racing Performance Parts and Ford Vehicle Personalization. Within minutes, several different looks can easily be created and saved as desktop wallpaper.

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 11, 2011 – For new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 owners, the unique chance to take part in a “track attack” is now a reality.

As part of a complimentary program offered by Team Mustang and Ford Racing, instructors at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School at Miller Motorsports Park are offering all new 2012 Mustang Boss 302 owners a chance to learn what their car is capable of over the surface on which it was born – the racetrack.

The Boss Track Attack provides owners with a full immersion into the Boss experience, with driving instruction and extensive track time with professional instructors. The intent is to enable Boss 302 owners to learn just how capable the new car is, and how much fun it can be on one of the country’s greatest tracks.

“This is the first program of its kind from Ford. We’re so proud of the new Boss 302 that we wanted to offer owners the opportunity to stretch their legs – and carve corners – on one of the coolest tracks in America,” said Mickey Matus, marketing manager, Ford Racing. “The Boss 302 is such a legendary nameplate, and our latest version is such a tremendous, fun-to-drive car that we wanted to ensure this exclusive group of owners learn all they could about it, and experience its capabilities in the fun, controlled environment that Miller Motorsports Park can provide.”

Boss owners need not bring their own cars. Miller Motorsports Park has a fleet of track-ready Boss 302s on hand for this driving experience.

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 11, 2010 – You hold two keys: One has a black Boss logo, the other red: Either will start your 2012 Mustang Boss 302. Slide the all-black key into the lock cylinder, give it a twist and you’re treated to 444 ponies worth of smooth, streetable driving joy. Or choose red – the TracKey – and you have a competition-ready track car.

A joint project between Mustang engineers and Ford Racing, TracKey adds a second set of powertrain control module (PCM) software to a customer’s Mustang Boss 302, activated by a specially programmed vehicle key. When invoked by TracKey, the new TracMode software alters more than 200 engine management parameters, increasing low-end torque and turning the potent but well-mannered stock Boss into a competition-ready track car. Remove TracKey and start Boss with the standard key, and all factory engine settings are restored for a comfortable drive home from the course.

“The Mustang Boss 302 is a very special vehicle, tuned to perform on a racetrack,” said Mickey Matus, marketing manager, Ford Racing. “It’s an absolute blast to drive on the street but we want owners to be able to experience all the incredible balance, power and performance engineered into this machine, and the only safe way to do that is to push the car to the limit on a closed course. This is only natural, since the Boss grew up on the racetrack.”

The Boss Track Attack program, offered through Team Mustang and Ford Racing, will feature a full Boss immersion, driving instruction and plenty of track time with engineers and racers. Dearborn, Mich., Oct. 27, 2010 – Ford Motor Company is tapping the 2010 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas to showcase nine customized versions of Mustang, displaying the vehicles alongside the new Mustang Boss 302.

“The 2011 model year sets a new standard for Mustang, with everything from bringing back the revered 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT to the all-aluminum 3.7-liter engine in the Mustang V6 with 305 horsepower and 31 mpg. And it doesn’t stop for 2012, with the Mustang Boss 302 reveal and the track-ready Laguna Seca version,” said Jim Owens, Mustang brand manager. “SEMA is a great way for Ford to not only show customers what’s new for Mustang, but what they can do to make it their own Mustang.”

While the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is sure to impress visitors at the Ford stand, a variety of Mustangs on display also will give consumers an idea of the endless possibilities for making it a one-of-a-kind pony car.

“People understand Mustang and they fall in love with the emotion of the car, but at the same time they want to bring a little of their individuality to the table,” said Melvin Betancourt, Ford design manager. “So if you’re a Mustang enthusiast looking to set your Mustang apart from others, SEMA is like going into a toy store full of inspirational imagery. At the end of the day you have a Mustang that reflects the personality of the customer’s vision.”

Dearborn, Mich., Aug. 18, 2010 – The Boss 302 is back, and the Ford display at the Woodward Dream Cruise is the perfect place to check out Ford’s latest pony car, the recently unveiled 2012 Mustang Boss 302. The Boss 302, along with the track-ready Boss 302 Laguna Seca, will greet visitors to the Ford display in Ferndale, Mich.

Ford employees are also getting in on the fun, bringing an anticipated 10 original Boss Mustangs for display.

But that’s not the only Mustang eye-candy. Mustang Alley will showcase more than 500 Mustangs – one of the largest gatherings of Mustangs in the country. The Ford display, which extends more than a mile along 9 Mile Road, also includes the 2011 Mustang GT with the all-new 412-horsepower 5.0-liter engine.

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 28, 2009 – Forty years after its namesake became a road racing legend, the BOSS is back on track for 2010 with a new 5.0-liter V-8 engine.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Parnelli Jones’ 1970 Trans-Am championship in a Mustang BOSS 302 prepared by Bud Moore Engineering, Ford Racing is introducing the BOSS 302R, a factory-built race car ready for track days and road racing in a number of Grand-Am, SCCA and NASA classes.
