Ford said it sold 136,920 cars and trucks in October, up from 132,838 last year. Sales for the company’s Ford division increased 3.6% while Lincoln declined 9%, Mercury declined 1.1% and Volvo sales increased 19.4%.
Ford’s sales gains were led by its new Ford Taurus sedan, with an increase of 141% compared with last year and the Ford Fusion, which increased 24%. Meanwhile, sales of Ford’s F-Series line of pickups declined 8.8%
Ford also estimated that its total market share for October was 15%.
“Consumers increasingly are noticing that the Ford difference is our great products, our strong business and our leadership in quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart technologies and value,” Ken Czubay, Ford’s vice president of U.S. marketing sales and service said in a statement.
